Well cleaned room for new upcoming baby
Having a new baby at home is one of the most precious time for a family. But before you bring your newborn at home, you have to make sure that every corner is clean and ready.

Babies generally have weaker immune systems and defenses against germs and other bacteria that can make them sick. Furthermore, their skin tends to be sensitive to dust, pollen, and other allergens that are commonly found inside the home. Therefore, a good general cleaning of the entire house is a must before the stork comes in.

Here are the things that need to be cleaned, prepped, and sanitized for your new baby.

1. Carpet

If your house is fully-carpeted, then it is a must to have them professionally cleaned. Carpet floors tend to attract dust and other allergens that can be harmful to the new baby. While vacuuming the carpet is a good option, a professional carpet cleaning service can deep clean your carpets more thoroughly than your regular vacuum cleaner.

The same goes for any rugs or accent carpeting you might have in your living room or bedrooms. They need to be steam cleaned to ensure that your home is free of any harmful allergens that can cause health problems not just to your newborn but to the rest of the family as well.

2. Nursery

The nursery is where your baby will spend most of their time, so it is a must to keep this area immaculate. Make sure to wash the crib linen well with a mild detergent before using it. If you are reusing old crib linen, it still needs to be washed before using it even if it was kept well. You'll never know what crawled on it while in storage.

Disinfecting the nursery furniture is also a must. For the nursery, it is recommended to use a non-toxic disinfectant that will not be harmful to your baby. Lastly, don't forget the toys and crib mobiles. They need to be sanitized as well before your newborn arrives.

3. Kitchen

Your bundle of joy may not be roaming into your kitchen any time soon, but that doesn't mean that we will leave this important area out when it comes to cleaning the house. The kitchen is where you are most likely to prepare your baby's milk formula. If you plan to breastfeed your baby, you would most likely store your milk bags in the refrigerator and transfer to a bottle in the kitchen, as well. You would also use the kitchen sink to wash the baby's bottles. Therefore, cleaning and disinfecting the kitchen makes perfect sense.

When cleaning the kitchen, don't forget to replace your dish rags, hand towels, and placemats regularly, as these items also accumulate germs.

4. All the other bedrooms

It is most likely that your baby could also spend some time outside their nursery, so it is a good idea to clean the other bedrooms as well. Regularly wash and change bed sheets and pillow covers, and disinfect furniture with a safe and non-toxic disinfectant solution. Curtains should also be changed while blinds should be dusted off as well.

Before the baby comes out is also the best time to have your airconditioning units cleaned by the pros. Cleaning the AC regularly ensures that the air you breathe is clean and it can also prolong the life of your unit.

Decluttering is also a good idea before the baby comes. You may want to let go of some clutter in your home to make it easier to clean.

5. Living room

Your newborn would also love to bond with the rest of the family in the living room. Vacuum the couch and dust off the furniture to prep the living room. Organizing and removing unnecessary stuff in the living room can also make it more pleasant and comfy to lounge in.
